Waaaazzup with Wil

Welcome to the 2nd installment of Waaaazzup with Wil (the Holiday 2010 edition).

A few things I’ve been into lately:

  • Orion — I’m always pleased to see this constellation (including the stars Rigel, Betelgeuse, and Bellatrix) return to the crisp, winter sky
  • Fallout: New Vegas — a sweet follow-up to Fallout 3, my favorite post-apocalyptic computer game
  • MI-5 (a.k.a., Spooks) — streamin’ BBC via Netflix, woohoo!
  • Sahale Valdosta, candied pecans + cranberries = yummy, but I have to laugh at the description: “evokes the classic taste of the American South”. Pecans, yes, but cranberries? Not exactly a classic Southern food.
  • The Terror, (recommended by Stefanie) — an engrossing, atmospheric winter read — the 1845 Franklin Expedition searches for the Northwest Passage, freezes in, encounters a mysterious Esquimaux couple, and fights against a preternatural “Terror”
  • Eef Barzeley & Clem Snide’s Suburban Field Recordings III — recently re-released ’90s alt-country (current favorites: “For Lydia” and the Lou Reed/Velvet Underground cover: “Pale Blue Eyes”). Check it out…

So glad you are enjoying The Terror! It is the coldest book I have ever read. When I think about it I still get shivers!

I happened across The Terror recently and remembered your review from two years ago! It sounded just right.
