I don’t really want this blog to turn into a film blog — I want to keep it as a personal blog — so I created a new blog specifically for film-related stuff: filmish.
That’s all.

Hi. Welcome to the first installment of Waaaazzup with Wil. My name is Wil, and I’ll be your host.
Many of you, I’m sure, have been asking yourself, What’s up with Wil? I thought he was doing that whole NaBloPoMo thing. Well, today, on Waaaazzup with Wil, I’m going to tell you what I’ve been doing instead of writing daily posts. I’ve been…
This installation of Waaaazzup with Wil has been brought to you by the Schwinn Sting-Ray (one sweet ride)

* With mixed results: Firefox 3.5 and Safari 3.2 display the fonts perfectly. Internet Explorer 8 and Safari 4 display three out of four of the embedded fonts (huh?). Chrome 3 doesn’t display them at all.
I’m going to give NaBloPoMo — 30 posts in 30 days — a try this year. It’ll be a challenge, as my usual posting frequency is more like 1-2/week. If you have any ideas as to what I could be writing, please give your suggestions!

Yesterday, my wife and I got up early to go into town and run errands (farmers market, grocery store, etc.), but the car wouldn’t start (damn gremlins!) — and our mechanic is closed on the weekend — so when it got a bit warmer, we strapped on backpacks and walked a mile-and-a-half along our “greenbelt” (“brownbelt” would be more accurate) trail to our little community grocery store.
When we arrived, it seems ghouls and goblins had overrun the place. The marketplace was having a community Halloween event, so we took a short break and watched the jedis, princesses, and pirates parade around the agora square. Then we bought our groceries, stuffed them in our packs, and walked back home. It was actually kind of fun.
Nobody trick-or-treats in our spread-out rural neighborhood, so we settled in for the night and watched what is probably my favorite Hitchcock film, Rear Window.

Happy Halloween! Samhain! Dia de los Muertos!
For a long time, I’ve been getting 99.9% of my work from one guy — which works great when he has work to give me, but not so great when he doesn’t have work to give me. I’ve tried to develop additional sources of work, but as there are about 50 bazillion web designers/developers out there, and networking’s really not my strong suit, it can be tough to land freelance gigs. But lo! Monday, I responded to a Craigslist ad, instantly got the job, and have since coded a lovely new corporate blog.* And the client loves it, and may have lots more work to throw my way. So, yay!
* Who knew? All the time I spent fiddling with this WordPress blog this summer, I was actually honing my job skillz. And yes, I realize that “lovely” and “corporate blog” probably do not belong in the same sentence.
I’ve been tinkering for six weeks or so on this new WordPress theme (my first, woohoo!), and I think it’s finally ready for prime time. I was probably more in love with it about four weeks ago when it was still fresh in my mind — before all the coding — but I still like it. Keep in mind, it’s version 1.0. I’ll probably still be tweaking it over time…and please give feedback if you come across any glitches. Thanks!
